NOTE: I meant to post this on March 19, 2015 but got a little distracted. I have updated it to be relevant to the current week.
Hello.
In this post I would like to share what has been going on over the past few weeks, hence and overview.
These last few weeks have been a lot of fun. Things have been a little different here now that I have a new roommate. She is seriously a lot of fun and we have gone on several small adventures together around our town. We have also had a lot of time to just talk. I have found how important it is to share conversation and perspectives with one another. Each person looks and perceives life differently than the next. Although I value the lessons I learned during my month alone, it is beyond wonderful to have a roommate once again, truly an answer to prayer!
Over the last few weeks we have been having really nice weather. I am seriously glad because I was getting tired of trekking around the city in my winter coat. Don’t get me wrong, winter is nice but I have turned into quite the California child. I love my warmth and sunshine.
Classes have been going well and several students and I have developed friendships. It is amazing to see how God works in the classroom and in the friendships that have been created. Sometimes there will be classes that I am afraid will turn out being boring, or tutoring sessions in which we will run out of things to talk about. However God always provides, especially in these situations. The class will turn out to be one of the most fun class periods we have had, or the tutoring session conversation will go so well that I don’t even need to use the materials I have prepared for “just in case.”
The last few Sabbaths spent here over the last two weeks have been some of my favorite. We spent time as a community of friends. On the first Sabbath that my new roommate was here we spent the afternoon at my director’s place. As always there was amazing food, good conversation and joyful games to play that his young daughter shared with us. After this we played our traditional game of volleyball (traditional because we have played almost every Saturday night since I arrived in Poland). Two Sabbath’s ago, after church we had one of the best potlucks I think I have had all year. Don’t get me wrong, the food here is always good, but sometimes it is PHENOMENAL, that Sabbath was one of those times. Once we had finished our meal, we gathered a small group and headed off to the sea. I stood in awe thinking about how wonderful it was to have a group to hangout with once again. Several Sabbath afternoons I have spent with a friend or a church family, but there is something about getting together with a group of young people that makes me thrive. Honestly it is like a piece of home, being surrounded by people who are not only there to have fun with you but also care about you. I am seriously looking forward to this coming Sabbath as a group of friends form back home will actually be here! That’s right, some friends from PUC are going to be spending some time traveling Europe during their spring break and are going to make a pitstop in Poland. So a piece of home will literally be here, and can mix with the small group of friends i have developed here. What a joyous time it will be. This last Sabbath afternoon was spent relaxing. The evening was extra special as we went to a local Indian restaurant. Some people joined us who speak English fluently. It was awesome to be in a group setting where I could communicate successfully. It seriously reminded me of my time back home and made me super excited for the weekend to come.
Speaking of joyous times I can only thing about what a wonderful thing it is going to be once we get to Heaven. Friends that we have met from all over the world will come together in once place. Most importantly, we will come together with our best friend Jesus.
My dear friends, I hope all is going well for you. I know that many of you who are in school are enjoying Spring Break! Rest up and enjoy time no matter where you are and no matter what you are doing. To those of you that do not have a Spring Break, find time to do something special. This year I do not have a Spring Break, but that is not going to stop me from enjoying my time and the joy that the spring season brings. Once again I remind you, adventure is everywhere. Go out and make today one to remember, even if you have to go to work like me. ;)
